The past year has certainly been historic, both for our country and our Party. As daylight gave way to night fall on November 4th we Democrats knew that this country, and its politics, would never be the same. For the first time in what seemed like a lifetime we had finally achieved the ultimate goal in politics: winning the White House! Each moment since then we have all been a small part of the wave of change spreading across our great land. Much like President Obama called for a great national change during the election season, the Young Democrats of America likewise need a change. In order for our organization to stand the test of time and move forward into the brightness of tomorrow we must elect leaders who are strong, capable, and ready to accept the challenge on Day One. With that said, the West Virginia Young Democrats fully and unequivocally support and endorse Rod Snyder for YDA Executive Vice President and Sania Rahim for Young Democrats of America High School Caucus Chair.
For the past two years WVYD has been privileged to be under the leadership of Rod Snyder. As president Rod expanded our organization, established a long term fundraising society so that WVYD will be financially sustainable long into the future, and created in-roads with new people and organizations that had never worked with WVYD before. From the very moment Rod was elected WVYD President his tenure in office was marked by an unwavering dedication to the Party and organization. On numerous occasions he tirelessly traveled through all of West Virginia’s 55 counties to meet with and organize Young Democrats. Rod’s leadership even led West Virginia’s YD to be rated in the Top 10 nationally among state Young Democrats organizations; an achievement that no other WVYD President can claim. Friends, if you want an Executive Vice President who will wake up every morning ready to work for YDA then Rod is your guy. If you want an Executive Vice President who will not stop until the job is finished then Rod is your guy. But more importantly than all of that: if you want an Executive Vice President who is the living embodiment of all that it means to be a Democrat, of all that our Party stands for, then Rod Snyder is the man you want as your Executive Vice President.
Along with leading our national organization from the top of the ladder, we must also make sure that we are winning the battle with our nation’s youngest participants. Although these students cannot vote, they will be the next wave of YDA leaders and organizers and we must do everything we can to keep them involved. Without a doubt Sania Rahim is the best candidate for this position. Sania has worked diligently within WV to organize high school young democrats throughout the course of the 2008 Election and, more importantly, after we achieved victory. She has served as a leader within West Virginia serving as both the president of the Woodrow Wilson High School Young Democrats and the West Virginia Young Democrats High School Caucus Chair. Under Sania’s leadership we can all rest assured that YDA will be reaching out to high school students across this country in order to get them involved, active, and voting with the Democratic Party.
No two people are better equipped to lead YDA into the future than Rod Snyder and Sania Rahim. We sincerely hope that you stand alongside all of the good folks in the West Virginia Young Democrats and cast a vote for Rod and Sania!
